The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) regulates investor-owned utilities including electric and natural gas utilities, landline telephone companies, water and wastewater companies, household goods movers, rail, trucking and bus companies in Ohio.
The PUCO has a dedicated staff ready to assist with any questions you may have or resolving issues between you (the consumer) and any PUCO-regulated entity.
The PUCO does not regulate providers of cable, cellular, propane gas, heating oil or internet service; and does not have jurisdiction over cooperative or municipal utilities.
Before contacting the PUCO, it is recommended to first try to resolve the issue with the utility directly by calling their customer service line. If the problem or complaint persists, call the PUCO at (800) 686-PUCO (7826) or provide your comments, questions, or complaint in the form below. Please fill out the form completely. The more specific information you provide, the better we can assist you.
The information you provide is considered public information and cannot be kept confidential. Please be advised that public comments filed in cases before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the Ohio Power Siting Board are published online in the docket associated with the case, including any personal information provided, such as your name, home address, or telephone number. If you do not wish to have such information published online, please remove or exclude it from documents and/or forms before they are submitted as public comments.
