PUCO approves asset transfer between natural gas utilities One Source Energy and Northeast Ohio Natural Gas

COLUMBUS, OHIO (Nov. 6, 2019) – The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today authorized the transfer of assets from One Source Energy, LLC (One Source) to Northeast Ohio Natural Gas Corp. (NEO). NEO will provide natural gas distribution service to One Source’s customers.

In its order, the Commission noted NEO has the expertise required to manage and maintain the gas pipeline system, and One Source’s customers will continue to receive uninterrupted natural gas service.

The Commission directed NEO to send a notice to the affected customers informing them of the transfer as soon as possible.

A copy of today’s finding and order is available on the PUCO website by clicking the link to the Docketing Information System (DIS) and searching case 16-1181-GA-ACE.

On July 31, 2019, the Commission ordered One Source to demonstrate it had the managerial, technical, and financial capability to provide natural gas service to its customers, or otherwise cease operations, and assessed a $25,000 fine for failure to comply with Commission orders regarding its status as a natural gas utility.

On Aug. 21, 2019, One Source filed a notice with the Commission that it was pursuing the sale of its system to another pipeline operator.

On Oct. 30, 2019, NEO and One Source filed a joint application to transfer One Source’s pipeline assets and customers to NEO.

Additional information is available on the PUCO website.
