Retail market investigation
The PUCO opened docket 12-3151-EL-COI to investigate the strength and health of the competitive market. The PUCO held a series of stakeholder collaboration workshops for the purpose of continuing the investigation. These workshops were used to identify and overcome market constraints, existing issues impacting the relationship between competitive retail electric service providers and electric distribution utilities, existing issues regarding market access, and other issues identified by stakeholders.
- December 12, 2012, the PUCO initiates an investigation into the health, strength, and vitality of Ohio's retail electric service market.
- May 29, 2013, the PUCO establishes a series of stakeholder collaboration workshops.
- June 5, 2013, the PUCO finds that to further the development of Ohio's retail electric service market, the following additional questions should be issued for stakeholders to file comments and reply comments. The PUCO requests comments from interested stakeholders should be filed by July 8, 2013. Reply comments should be filed by July 22, 2013.
- March 26, 2014, the PUCO's finding and order concluding the retail market investigation.
The PUCO held series of workshops seeking comments in its investigation of Ohio’s retail electric service market. The purpose of these workshops was to permit stakeholders to highlight or summarize positions on key issues that the PUCO plans to address as part of the intermediate work plan to promote competition.
