Commissioner Lawrence K. Friedeman
Lawrence K. Friedeman was appointed to the Public Utilities Commission (PUCO) of Ohio by Governor John R. Kasich in 2017.
For more than 20 years, Commissioner Friedeman has held various roles in the energy sector related to regulatory and compliance disciplines. His tenure has afforded him the opportunity to work with regulatory commissions, utilities, consumer advocates and competitive suppliers in a dozen states, including Ohio. Most recently, Friedeman served as vice president of regulatory affairs and compliance at IGS Energy.
Throughout his career, Friedeman has had the distinction of serving on the boards of the Ohio Gas Association and the Ohio Gas Suppliers Association. He currently serves as a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Committee on Consumers and Public Interest and NARUC's Committee on Gas.
Commissioner Friedeman received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He and his wife, Beth, a retired educator, reside in Waterville, Ohio. Commissioner Friedeman has two adult daughters and a granddaughter.
