COLUMBUS, OHIO (June 27, 2011) – The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) can now be found on Facebook and Twitter.

The use of these social media platforms will supplement the PUCO Web site, brochures, fact sheets and press releases and provide additional ways for stakeholders to be informed about the utility policy. This is important given that the PUCO affects just about every household in Ohio and regulates providers of all kinds of utility services, including electric and natural gas companies, local and long distance telephone companies, water and wastewater companies, and rail and trucking companies.

Users will be able to stay up to date with the latest news and information surrounding Ohio’s regulated utilities by “liking” www.facebook.com/PUCOhio and following on Twitter at www.twitter.com/PUCOhio.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) is the sole agency charged with regulating public utility service. The role of the PUCO is to assure all residential, business, and industrial consumers have access to adequate, safe, and reliable utility services at fair prices while facilitating an environment that provides competitive choices. Consumers with utility-related questions or concerns can call the PUCO Call Center at (800) 686-PUCO (7826) and speak with a representative.
