Ohio Energy Assurance

The PUCO Energy Assurance Unit conducted an energy emergency tabletop exercise on Wednesday, June 1. The exercise allowed stakeholders in the utility sector to analyze the potential impacts to the energy system from hypothetical disruptions, whether they are a product of extreme weather conditions, unusually high demand, unplanned outages, interruptions in fuel supply, or deliberate attacks.

The simulation and resulting discussion was instrumental in enabling strategic decision making processes to mitigate impacts resulting from energy emergencies and improving preventative measures. It also provided an opportunity to develop and enhance relationships that are critical to a successful response before an actual event occurs.
