MEDIA ADVISORY

PUCO and Ohio Trucking Association team up to highlight importance of roadway safety

COLUMBUS, OH (June 1, 2009) – Motor carrier specialists from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) and drivers from “America's Road Team” will conduct a demonstration inspection of a commercial truck and answer questions to kick-off Roadcheck 2009, an annual transportation safety event.

Tuesday, June 2

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Ohio Statehouse Veteran’s Plaza
(East side of the Statehouse between Broad and State streets)

Roadcheck highlights the combined efforts of law enforcement and the trucking industry to promote safety on North America’s roads. This year’s Roadcheck, held June 2-4, will involve more than 10,000 truck and bus safety specialists conducting comprehensive inspections on commercial motor vehicles, drivers, and cargo across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

PUCO motor carrier specialists will also be available for media interviews at various locations in Akron, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton and Youngstown. To schedule an interview, please contact the PUCO Office of Public Affairs at (614) 466-7750.
