  • USDA Offers $221 Million in Clean Energy Loans and Grants (March 6, 2008): The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it will accept $220.9 million in loan and grant applications under the agency's Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency Improvements Program. (full text of news release)
  • AEP to support largest agricultural carbon offset program in U.S.; program will capture and destroy methane from 200 farms (June 14, 2007): American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) announced an agreement with an affiliate of Environmental Credit Corp. (ECC) to purchase approximately 4.6 million carbon credits between 2010 and 2017 generated from capturing methane on livestock farms. (full text of news release)
  • Energy and Agriculture Depts. Provide $8.3 Million in Funding for Biofuels Research (June 13, 2007): U.S. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman and Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns announced that the Department of Energy and the Department of Agriculture have jointly selected 11 projects for awards totaling $8.3 million for biobased fuels research that will accelerate the development of alternative fuel resources.   • USDA, DOE Announce $18 Million Solicitation for Biomass Research and Development (June 13, 2007): The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a combined total of up to $18 million will be available for research and development of biomass-based products, biofuels, bioenergy and related processes.  (full text of news release)
